Consider metal characteristics
Hardness: For metals with high hardness, such as alloy steel, tungsten steel, etc., it is advisable to use a jaw crusher for coarse crushing. Its jaw plate is made of strong material and can withstand greater pressure, and can initially crush large pieces of high-hardness metal. Cone crusher is suitable for further medium and fine crushing of high-hardness metals. It squeezes the material through the mortar wall to the crushing wall, has a large crushing ratio, and can handle metal materials with higher hardness. For metals with lower hardness, such as non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper, hammer crusher or impact crusher is more suitable. They use high-speed rotating hammers or impact plates to strike the material, which can crush soft metals into smaller particles, and can effectively avoid increased energy consumption and equipment wear caused by excessive crushing.
Toughness: For metals with high toughness, such as scrap steel, metal sheets, etc., double-shaft shredder is a better choice. It shears, tears and squeezes the material through the relative rotation of two shafts equipped with cutters, and can crush tough metal materials into smaller pieces, preparing for subsequent further crushing and processing. Metal crushers are also suitable for processing ductile metals. They use the principle of hammering to tear ductile metals into crushed objects that meet specifications.
Shape and size: Large metal components or pipes, such as scrap car frames, large metal pipes, etc., need to be initially processed with a double-shaft shredder or crocodile shears to cut or tear them into smaller sizes for subsequent entry into other crushing equipment. For thin metal materials, such as cans, iron sheets, etc., metal crushers or hammer crushers can quickly and effectively break them into small particles.
Consider production scale
Large metal recycling companies: The processing volume is large, and tens or even hundreds of tons of metal materials may need to be processed per hour. A jaw crusher with large production capacity can be selected as a coarse crushing equipment, and a cone crusher or impact crusher can be used for medium and fine crushing, and a vibrating screen can be added to form a closed-loop circulation system to meet the needs of large-scale production.
Small metal recycling station: The processing volume is relatively small. A small jaw crusher or metal crusher can be used for coarse crushing, and then a small cone crusher, hammer crusher, etc. can be selected for further crushing according to specific needs.
Consider the finished product particle size requirements
Coarse crushing stage: If the subsequent requirements for the shape and particle size of metal particles are not high, just to crush large pieces of metal into smaller pieces for easy transportation and storage, jaw crushers, double-shaft shredders and other coarse crushing equipment can meet the needs.
Medium and fine crushing stage: If the metal needs to be crushed into smaller particles, such as fine materials for metal smelting, or to make metal powder, cone crushers, impact crushers or hammer crushers can be used in the medium and fine crushing stage to obtain finer particle sizes and more uniform particle shapes.
Consider investment costs and operating costs
Investment costs: Traditional crushing equipment such as jaw crushers and cone crushers are relatively low in price and mature in technology, suitable for enterprises with limited budgets. New impact crushers, metal crushers and other equipment may be more expensive, but they have higher production efficiency and better crushing effect, and are suitable for enterprises with high requirements for production efficiency and product quality and sufficient budget.
Operation cost: including energy consumption, replacement cost of wearing parts, maintenance cost, etc. In terms of energy consumption, cone crushers, impact crushers, etc. are relatively energy-saving. In terms of replacement cost of wearing parts, the hammer head, plate hammer and other wearing parts of hammer crushers and impact crushers wear faster, and the replacement cost is relatively high; while the wearing parts of jaw crushers and cone crushers have a relatively long service life and a lower replacement cost.
