Car shredders are the core first-stage crushing equipment in scrap car recycling, specifically designed to process entire scrapped cars, car bodies, frames, and scrapped vans/sedans. They work in conjunction with horizontal balers in the preceding and following processes.
1. Forced Crushing and Dismantling of the Entire Car: Without manual cutting and dismantling, an entire scrapped car can be directly fed in. Through dual-shaft cutter rollers, the car is sheared, torn, and crushed into uniformly sized metal scraps, saving the significant labor costs associated with manual gas cutting and dismantling.
2. Breaking Up Mixed Materials and Separating Various Materials: The shredding process forcibly breaks down and separates the car’s sheet metal, frame steel, aluminum alloy, copper parts, plastics, glass, and rubber, facilitating subsequent magnetic separation, air separation, and sorting equipment to classify and separate iron, aluminum, copper, and plastics, thus improving material purity.
3. Reduced volume for easier subsequent transport and processing: Large, rigid vehicles cannot be directly fed into balers or smelting furnaces. Shredding them into smaller pieces facilitates belt conveying and stacking, making them suitable for subsequent compression and bundling by horizontal hydraulic balers.
4. Deconstructing the vehicle structure and removing impurities: Vehicle bodies contain layers, foam, interior trim, tire fillers, etc. Shredding thoroughly breaks down the structure, separating metal and interior debris, reducing contaminants in the scrap steel and increasing its selling price.
5. Controllable output particle size, suitable for steel mill remelting: Adjustable roller speed and blade gap control the size of the shredded material, producing uniformly sized shredded vehicle scrap, a highly sought-after premium scrap material for steel mills, fetching higher prices.
6. Small footprint, assembly line operation: Can be combined with conveyor belts, magnetic separators, and horizontal balers to form a fully automated end-of-life vehicle recycling production line, allowing for continuous feeding and crushing, suitable for large-scale recycling plants.

The car shredder is responsible for shredding and breaking down the entire scrapped car, separating the metal and debris, and providing qualified raw materials for subsequent sorting, packaging and steelmaking. It is the core equipment at the front end of the scrap car recycling production line.
